Nigger. They're deliberately uneven and asymmetrical.

Is this a bad drawing because it's done quickly and left unrefined?

It's a loose, gestural style. It's an acquired taste to many. It shows skill with the media--capable of getting to the desired result quickly and accurately, leaving in and being content with the imperfections.

No.23712

Yes, I can do perfectly even, symmetrical, burnished smooth pots. I've done exclusively that for a long time. They're boring. Once I got confident in my ability, I stopped doing them tight and controlled. Ugliness is a part of reality, ergo I see ugliness as part of beauty. Ying and yang.

Here's a couple from earlier in the same semester.

The red one was the first I did in this style. The white was about the 10th and last. Side-by-side to show the evolution of the idea.

Symmetrical, even, perfectly controlled. But--see the bumpy shit at the foot of the white one? I leave that there intentionally. ;o

If you diss 'art' of any form, that means you haven't truly learned of aesthetic beauty. You're making yourself sound like a douche hun. :\. Most skilled artists become bored with perfection.
I also see the beauty in abstract art and artwork with imperfections, it's more interesting.

"In the not-so-distant future, genetic bodymorphing will become the dominant form of cosmetic procedure, due to its lower cost, more natural-looking results, and greater variety of procedures compared to traditional plastic surgery. Case in point: Women who relish the glow of a massively multiple pregnancy, but don't want the medical complications caused by cramming 10+ fetuses into a normal sized uterus, or the financial burden of such an enormous family. By simply blending the woman's DNA with that of a large mammal, she can possess a uterus the size of an elephant's (like the woman pictured), making her look and feel enormously pregnant, even though she is not. Add in a splash of Virginal Breast Hypertrophy and the increased strength of non-human apes (for mobility), and you get the woman pictured here."

And this shitbag thinks this is art... Appropriate veri: "foughable"-- this "art" is foughable.

They are almost cave-like, which I think could be neat, but the obvious plaster-yness.. is bleh, reminding me of sloppily caulked walls.

When it comes to chaotic looking artwork, I guess I prefer natural or organic looking chaos, rather than the stuff which seems more like man-made contrived flaws.

>When it comes to chaotic looking artwork, I guess I prefer natural or organic looking chaos, rather than the stuff which seems more like man-made contrived flaws.

I see your point. I'm not sure how to fix that--to make it less interpretable as contrived. I've tried to think of ways to work erosion into it, but so far it's shown to be tricky. Does the last one strike you differently?

And yeah--criticism is very welcome/encouraged hurr.

No.23804

i'm not really sure what these are for, the unlevel edges would make them shitty for baking stuff in the oven, i guess you could use it as a normal dish for eating out of or use it decoratively when serving things, earthenware just seems a bit heavy for using decoratively. I mean i'm not trying to be a dick here, but could you explain what the purpose of it is?
