Evaluation:Took the bag out for a few hours on a small hike going uphill in slightly rocky, mountainous terrain. Bag's kinda uncomfortable, especially with all the weight. Stuffing the full hydration pack inside weighed it down especially. I'll probably only use this for lighter loads, and definately won't be putting lots of water in it.pic unrelated

Wouldn't recommend it. It doesn't make water magically lighter. It's just tacti-COOL. It's not as versatile as a metal canteen. You can boil water in a canteen. You can set a dew trap up with a canteen. If you want weight reduction then consider purification tablets and a collapsible canteen to supplement a small water supply.

camelbak makes some field packs and military packs but they are ridiculously expensive. i suggested it as a joke seeing as their military packs seem to be about 500 dollars each. but they look damn cool. i agree with shlom about the usefullness of metal canteens though. i know this may sound stupid, but i have found it is nice to have a rag or washcloth with me when i go hiking/camping.
